During his recent visit to South Korea, Rossano Ercolini, President of Zero Waste Italy, was invited as a special guest to the Seoul International Eco Film Festival (SIEFF)—the country’s most prestigious environmental film festival and one of the most important in all of Asia.
It was a valuable opportunity for international dialogue and exchange on sustainable futures, approached with deep dedication and intensity. A significant personal investment that is already yielding tangible results.
This is reflected in the attention of the prominent Korean daily Hankook Ilbo, which dedicated an in-depth interview article to Rossano Ercolini.
The interview, curated by journalist Na-sil Choi, highlights Ercolini’s contribution to the Zero Waste movement and his efforts in promoting alternatives to incineration—based on separate waste collection, reuse, and the right to repair. The Italian experience—particularly that of Capannori—emerges as a concrete example of the transition toward a circular economy, capable of moving beyond the linear “take-make-dispose” model.
The article also offers a critical perspective on some still-widespread practices, emphasizing the need to go beyond simple recycling in order to truly reduce waste impact.
This is an important recognition that once again confirms how the voice of the Zero Waste movement is being heard and appreciated at the international level.
